Wednesday 21st September 2016Salisbury Hospital Cup Round One.
Tonight’s opponents South Wiltshire based Shrewton United have enjoyed a decent start to their Wiltshire Premier league campaign lying in 2nd place.

And it was the visitors who had a good first chance to take an early lead when Steven Holvey struck a powerful shot that went just wide of the far post.

Then five minutes later Shrewton took the lead when Craig Lewis, beat the Vale keeper Sam Tuttle to make it 0-1.

This was followed with a let off for Pewsey when a perfect cross flashed across the goalmouth through the Vale’s defence with no Shrewton player unable to get a touch on the cross.

On the 30th minute, the visitors went further in the lead when Lewis again struck after picking up the ball just outside the hosts box into the bottom corner to increase the scoreline at 0-2.

Five minutes later Pewsey got one back following some good play from Ryan Banks breaking through the Shrewton defence and finishing well past the visitors keeper Ben Bissinton and make the game 2-1.

Tuttle made a great save to deny the visitors a 3rd goal as the match went into the half time break.

Early in the second half a great cross from Micky Martin set up Adam Field at the near post to slot home with a sweet left-footed finish past the keeper to level the score at 2-2 .

After this the visitors got more on top of their Wiltshire neighbours and went back into the lead on the hour, when Lee Weeks made it 2-3.

As the match continued towards the final minutes James Dolman put the match out of reach of the Vale by making it 4-2.
