Pewsey Vale Football Club awarded funding to revamp football facilities

The New Horizon project for PVFC in Pewsey has been awarded funding by the Premier League, through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF). As sister organisation of the Football Foundation, the FSIF are the largest funders of non-league football in the country.

The £20K FSIF grant will enable PVFC, which plays in the Wiltshire League at Step 7, to overhaul its ageing and dilapidated clubhouse infrastructure to provide a modern environment that is fit for purpose and providing a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

This project is being undertaken at this time because a recent and most welcome grant from the FSIF of £25K to replace the roof as it was failing and beyond economic repair having sustained damage earlier in the year, required intrusive removal of services and highlighted the state of dilapidations more widely, warranting urgent attention.

When finished, the club will benefit from replacement of the electrical, plumbing and heating systems, new ceilings and floorings throughout, redecoration, introducing a new kitchen area and enlarging the size and improvement of facilities and enlargement of the changing rooms. Pitch maintenance has not been overlooked and funds have been contributed towards a replacement mower.

Taken together these improvements amount to a substantial refurbishment and a major step forward in securing the Club’s future viability and growth.

The Club currently has an adult side, an U18’s floodlit league side, and a support network of juniors ranging from U5 to U16. It will also be looking to restore its adult reserve side next year as part of its expansion and inclusion approach.

“Football makes a huge difference to the players, coaches, supporters and wider community here. We see first-hand the impact on players’ confidence, physical health and mental focus at a very difficult time. To receive this funding Football Stadia Improvement Fund and the Premier League, is an immense boost and will help us to improve grassroots sport in the area and get even more people involved in the nation’s favourite game.”

Notes to editors:

The FSIF is funded with £6.5m each year from the Premier League. It is the country’s largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower-league football grounds in both the professional and amateur game. These improvements range from new football stands and turnstiles to floodlighting and improved provision for disabled supporters.
