Pewsey Vale FC – Club History

Pewsey Vale FC was officially formed in 1948 but prior to this date there is evidence that there was a six a side group that played under the name of Pewsey Boys as early as 1921.
Originally facilities were very basic based in a field near to the current Recreation Ground site. In 1950 the Club was offered a lease for the current ground forming part of the overall sports facilities at Ball Road. It was only in the 1980’s that the current clubhouse was built financed entirely through the generosity of several local businesses.
Promoted to the Great Mills League as champions of the Adkey Wiltshire Cup competition, Pewsey were one of the first clubs to benefit from the pyramid system by joining the Screwfix League system and then Hellenic League Division One West in 2001. The Club immediately won promotion to the Premier League after finishing runners up to Hook Norton. The ground required further improvements during the 2001 close season with installation of floodlights, hard standing around the ground, and seating for 50 people installed. The finance was achieved via grants and again the generosity of local businesses.

After 3 seasons in the Premier Division the club were relegated back to Division one and after a further years of struggle, at the end of the 2008/9 season the Club took the step to drop down to step 7 football in order to rebuild under the stewardship of Adi Holcombe and Lewis Taylor.

The 2009/10 season resulted in the winning of the Wiltshire Premier League Cup, and finishing 3rd in the league. The under 18’s also reached the final of the Wiltshire County Cup. After a season of consolidation, development of our young local talent Pewsey Vale FC successfully applied to join the Wessex League structure and a new adventure begins. Further ground developments have continued: with fencing and additional hard standing, with plans also being prepared for a new Club house.
In the season completed 2012 – 2013 we finished 5th in the Sydenhams Wessex League and won the Salisbury & District Hospital Cup for the 3rd time in our history. The management team for the 2017 – 2018 season has seen a return of familiar faces with the former player and reserve team player Ali Tuttle taking to the helm with the assistance of Al Blake. The Vale of Pewsey side has seen a change of faces too with Dave Force-Jones moving into the manager role. He will be accompanied by assistants Adi Holcombe, Adi Garratt and Colby Cain. The Under 18’s currently have no side representing the floodlit league.
