Club Statement

It is with great regret that Pewsey Vale Football Club have made the decision to withdraw from the Sydenham’s Wessex League with immediate effect.

This wasn’t an easy decision for the club to make, however after several meetings the committee came to this unanimous decision in order to protect our Senior League status and the future of our club.

After the FA’s decision to move the first team into the Wessex League at the start of the season, despite an appeal, losing lots of key players due to the extra demands of travel, we were left with no illusion that it was going to be a difficult season ahead.

And so it has proven. Despite the best efforts of our managers, committee members and players this has had a demoralising effect and has progressively worsened. We feel like we were left with no choice but to make this decision before the club incurred further fines and further points deductions for not being able to fulfil fixtures.

The vision of the club is to continue with a single adult team in the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior Premier League, as Pewsey Vale F.C and our Under 18’s team in the Corsham Print Under 18’s floodlight league with the view to rebuild in the future.

We thank you all for all the messages of support and understanding at this time, it is much appreciated.

Match Report: Vale claim a win!

Saturday 5th November 2016
Wessex League Division One
Pewsey Vale 2 vs. Hythe & Dibden 1

Pewsey snatched a second minute lead when David Cope finished past the Visitors keeper Mitch Steadman.
The Vale was having the best of this first half and was putting the pressure on the Hythe defence and were working well to try and increase the scoreline.

Vale entered the break with a 2-0 advantage when a great cross into the box found Garreth Robb who stooped low to head past the helpless keeper.

From the start of the second half, the contest became a very scrappy affair and tempers began to surface and the referee yellow carded two Pewsey players and two Hythe players in a short space of time.

This was followed by a very bad tackle on the Vale player Jake Force-Jones that saw another Hythe player going into the refs book on the hour. As the match continued to be a very niggly affair, the referee managed to book 6 players during this half.

Pewsey were having a great match and Hythe could not stop the pressure from the Vale.

The miss of the match went to Pewsey’s Tom Ballard who with the goal at his mercy put his shot wide.

The visitors got a goal back to see the match at 2-1 when Marcel Laptas, finally beat the home keeper Sam Tuttle.

Vale’s Captain Craig Wall had a great chance on the 70th minute with a one-on-one, however the keeper denied him his scoring change.

The last 10 minutes involved some late pressure from the visitors but the Vale were able to defend strongly and hold on to a well deserved and long overdue 3 points!

Star Man: Tom Ballard.

Match Report: Vale hit for four at Folland

Pewsey Vale suffered another defeat on their first visit to Folland on the South Coast.

The first chance fell to the Vale on the 7th minute, but the home keeper Joe Hunt cleared away the danger.

But it was the home side who broke the deadlock from a cross by Carel Kayembe who found Johnathan Rowe in front of the Vale goal to put his side 1 up on the 10th minute.

Another good cross into the box again by Kayembe created another good chance but this was saved smartly by the Vale keeper Sam Tuttle.

A let off for the Vale on 20 minutes saw the home side surge forward and a shot by Jamie Dover hit the cross bar as the Vale were put under pressure.

Folland went 2 up on the 32nd minute when a cross found Jack James with Tuttles hand not enough to prevent Folland doubling their score.

On the 32nd minute, another Folland attack on the Vales’ defence saw Dover put the hosts three goals in the lead to go in at half time well in command.

At the start of the second half, the Vale started to put in a lot better performance as they tried to salvage something from the match and they were having chances but they just could not get the ball into their hosts net.

A good free kick for the Vale saw Tom Ballard float his kick into the box that found Ben Holcombe but he headed wide of the post on the 67th minute.

Then on the 71st minute Kayembe put Folland into 4-0 lead. Then minutes later, Pewsey had chances but could not put them into the back of the net. Micky Martin was unlucky for the Vale but he shot wide of the Folland goal on the 75th minute.

The final minutes saw Tuttle make another fine save to deny the impressive Kayembe. Full Time: 4-0.
